Pioneered by five founding societies in 1998, Groupe BMS2000 is a cooperative project for establishing a common database with the BMS records — births, marriage and deaths (burials or sepultures) — of 23 genealogical societies of Quebec province and its neighbourhood.
At the end of 2007, more than six millions of BMS records have been collected by voluntary workers, shared and made available in the research centers of the participating societies for the sole benefit of their members.
In December 2006, this valuable treasure of genealogical data has been made available to the Internet community by the association of Groupe BMS2000 and the Centre de généalogie francophone d'Amérique.
Strong of these successes, the disclosed aim of the BMS2000 corporation is now to include the majority, if not the totality, of the BMS records of the province and surrounding neighbourhoods.
